I knew as soon as I started writing fiction for real it was making me happy. So, to make bestseller status is surely just a big bonus, right?

Well, when I wrote book one in the Metronome series, "The Note I Wrote for You", I couldn't stop smiling. I like to call it magic. The Law of Attraction, or guidance, or spirit was guiding me, for sure. I have felt guided into writing for so many years, and previously, I didn't really mind too much what I was actually writing at all.
Starting my MA in creative writing was funny, now I look back. I told them, following my nutrition degree, I would write information leaflets. They kindly swerved me away from that idea and tapped further into my creativity. But I still chose non-fiction for years. It seemed to me I was drawn to people's lived experiences, and I wanted to share those to inspire others. Those books pretty much always hit the bestseller list.
Did I think I could inspire others from stories I made up in my head? Nah-ah, not for a minute. But here we are!
People, including me, have said the first book in the series felt as if it had some magical powers to make people happy.
What?
What the heck is that?
Magic again?
Perhaps, yes. Because as I was writing it, I felt the happiest I have ever felt in my life. And the world around my writing should have dictated that I wasn't all that happy at all.
There was something about 'being with' the characters that made me smile inside. And I couldn't wait to get back to them and find out what was happening.
Once I had published the book, the magic had worked. Being that happy for that period of time ended up changing my life in ways I could have never imagined, but that might be a story for another time. Readers are now saying they are feeling it too!
When book two was released about a week ago, it went onto the bestseller status, hitting number 17 in its category. I am over the moon. The book is called She Smells Like Strawberries, and it has challenged me as I have written it. In parts, there is sadness and dark times for the main female character, but of course, things take a turn for her; this is a contemporary romance. I literally love this story, and I've no idea how I'll finish the series, but I won't be doing that for quite some time.
This is the first time I have produced a hardcover too. My copy is on its way - have you got one?
Let me know if you have read either
And I can't wait to share the rest of these stories with you as they unfold. Here comes book three.
